Hello Hindustan with Kapil Krishnaswamy (1) - Janmashtami festival

Hi Kapil, welcome at Hund i snor.

Kapil Krishnaswamy
Thank you, thank you, this is a great honour !

Hund i snor
Oh no, we can assure you it's our honour to have you on board.

Kapil Krishnaswamy
Oh no, no, I can assure you it's definitely entirely my honour.

Hund i snor
Anyway, for your first article you want to report on a Hindu festival near London ?

Kapil Krishnaswamy
Oh yes. This is a festival called Janmashtami. It's 5000 years old. Over 75000 Hindus and other visitors are expected to gather in Aldenham, just north of London on August 26 and August 28 to celebrate the Hindu festival at the famous Bhaktivedanta Manor Hare Krishna temple.

Hund i snor
Sounds great, but what is this Janmashtami festival about ?

Kapil Krishnaswamy
The festival at Bhaktivedanta Manor, which is a Manor house donated by former Beatle George Harrison, includes lively plays, traditional Indian dances, melodious singing, food stalls, multi-media shows, elaborate worship, meditation and chanting, youth tents, games, children's areas, bullock-wagon rides and much more. All 75000 visitors will be given a free vegetarian meal specially sanctified by a sacred offering to Lord Krishna. The entire festival is managed and run by volunteers from the community. "The festival is a special occasion to encourage the core values of devotion to God, commitment to family values and inspiration to serve others," explains Gauri Dasa, President of Bhaktivedanta Manor.

Hund i snor
Sounds awesome.

Kapil Krishnaswamy
Oh, yes it is. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to announce this festival to the Hund i snor audience.

Hund i snor
Welcome.
