Hello Hindustan with Kapil Krishnaswamy (22) - Interview with Miss India World Sindhura Gadde
The countdown has begun for Miss India World Sindhura Gadde. Just another week left for the Miss World pageant when Gadde will represent India on the world forum. Sindhura tells Hund i snor how she has prepared for the pageant and what it takes to win a beauty crown
KK. Tell us about your background and how did you enter the world of modelling?
SG. I come from a family of four, originally from Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh. My father is a mechanical engineer and my mother is a software technician both residing in New Zealand. I have completed my education in pharmacology and physiology from New Zealand itself. I have also worked as a newsreader for 10-11 months. So, in a way I am exposed to the media industry. As far as entry into modelling is concerned, I had no childhood dream to be a model. But when I came to India, some people from the fashion industry suggested that I take part in Miss India and then there was no looking back...
KK. How have you prepared yourself for the pageant?
SG. My approach has been more holistic. It's been a great experience training here, in India, for the pageant. My training started a month back which included meditation, yoga, working out in the gym, voice modulation, etc. So, I think I have covered almost all aspects of preparations.
KK. Who has done your wardrobe for the event?
SG. Ritu Kumar has done my evening gown, Satya Paul has worked on the costume for swim suit round and cocktail dress is by designer Deepika Gehani and Mandira Wirk has also done some outfits.
KK. What does beauty mean to you?
SG. It is surely not just facial. It is a lot more personified though. I believe every individual is beautiful in his/her own way. It's just the way we perceive them.
KK. How do you rate your chances of winning the 'Miss World' title?
SG. I have no qualms about admitting that I am a very strong contender, at least from the Asian region. I am positive and have great communication skills. Moreover, I have the perfect blend of Indian and Western values and culture. I am modern yet traditional in my outlook. So, I possess the so-called X factor.
KK. If you win the crown, what is the first thing that you plan to do?
SG. If I win, I will have to move to London for an year, according to the contract, and perform my duties as Miss World there and then come back home with the crown. I intend to work with underprivileged kids and help maximize our manpower to improve our country, India.
KK. Indian beauties have not been performing well at International pageants. What do you have to say about that?
SG. Every year around 120 countries compete for one crown and only one girl can win the title. The title is given to a person who has a holistic approach towards life. I believe Miss World is not a country competing against another but about the girl who is going to represent. I think India has performed reasonably well in the past. We have won five crowns till now, which is commendable. And this year I am representing. I hope my positive attitude makes me win!
KK. What if you lose the contest?
SG. Even if I lose the title, I'll be optimistic. It will not be the end of my world. More than the Miss World crown, just the fact that more than 9000 girls dreamt of being Miss India and it was me who won it, the feeling itself is exhilarating! It gives me a high when I think that so many girls want to be in my shoes. All this gives me the motivation to move on and make it big. It doesn't matter if I lose.
KK. Thanks for the interview and Hund i snor wishes you lots of success !
SG. Thanks and lots of success to Hund i snor as well !
